Toki Tori is the game that just won’t die. Surprisingly, we mean this is in a good way. If you haven’t played Toki Tori yet you should absolutely stop reading this and grab it for less than a buck right now. But if you already love Toki Tori? Read on!

Originally released for the GameBoy Color back in 2001, Toki Tori was a critical success but a commercial failure. Most developers would have taken their lumps and moved on to their next projects, but Two Tribes knew that they had a true gem on their hands and weren’t ready to let go.

After allowing for a 2003 port to Windows Mobile, the team at Two Tribes took a break from Toki Tori only to re-emerge last year with a gorgeous remake on Nintendo’s WiiWare service. But with the service itself not gaining any real traction, Two Tribes still hadn’t see the commercial success that their title deserved.

Then came Chillingo. The iPhone publisher has become one of the premiere names in iPhone gaming, and they saw the potential Toki Tori had to offer. Porting the WiiWare remake to the iPhone, Chillingo has released the penultimate version of the puzzle platformer. Now that version is on sale for 99 cents.

Toki Tori is this fat little bird who’s put to the task of collecting up his buddies trapped in eggs. Levels have been designed in a way to capitalize on his abilities, or lack of them: he can’t fly and he can only climb short steps and ladders. But the deeper you go, the more functions open up for this little guy: if the level calls for it, he can build bridges across one-tile-wide gaps, teleport across wider areas, shoot enemies with freeze guns or slurp them up in a vacuum, and move pillars behind him. Some levels allow for an infinite number of special moves while others limit the amount of times they can be used.

Having Toki Tori on a handheld console again is a great way to experience the series if you missed out in it the first time round. The touchscreen control mechanic might not sit so well with old school fans, but for newcomers with a patient disposition, Toki Tori is a real treat from the App store.

The result is a very fun, surprisingly deep mobile golf simulator.
When you first launch Let’s Golf and every time thereafter you’re greeted with a 30 second intro video. That’s a bit much; even though it’s skippable by tapping the Done button, you’d think developers building a mobile game would know better than to put up barriers to getting into the game quickly. But as fun as Let’s Golf’s good parts are, you’ll learn soon enough that there’s a disappointing amount of waiting while you play.

The game’s sole “loading” screen—with the Let’s Golf logo and a small animation—appears constantly, in between each hole. I assume there are memory issues at play here that make this necessary, but it’s one of the only real notable downsides in an otherwise entertaining game.

The imagery in the game is superb. The trees, grass, and blue sky aren’t photorealistic, but they come impressively close. Attention to detail is excellent: You’ll spot airplanes, hang-gliders, and parachutes soaring in the sky, and you’ll see leaves drifting down from the trees.

Let’s Golf offers two separate control mechanisms. The first is the familiar golfing video game interface you may have seen before, where you tap once for strength, and a second time for accuracy, aiming to time your taps with an animated gauge. The second mechanism embraces the iPhone’s multitouch screen a bit more, and it’s awfully tricky to describe in words. Basically, you slide your finger in a golf swing-like circle, and how far back you slide your finger determines the strength of your swing. Although the latter mode is called “advanced,” I find that it’s actually easier than the traditional controls, because it’s possible to abandon your shot halfway through if you mess up when setting your power level. Either way, each control scheme is fun, and I switch between the two methods at whim.

The game features a variety of play modes and difficulty levels. You can play a quick round of three random holes (from random courses), compete in a tournament against computer-controlled opponents on 9 or 18 holes from one course, or just “free play” on the course of your choosing. Winning tournaments unlocks additional courses, outfits, and gear for the golfing characters. Those characters, by the way, are pretty funny. They each have unique traits—some are more accurate, some can swing more powerfully. And when they bogey, or heaven-forbid, double-bogey, their emotional disgust-laden body language is a hoot.

Multiplayer options in Let’s Golf are strong: You can take turns by passing your iPhone or iPod touch to a friend, or you can connect via Wi-Fi.

Each of Let’s Golf’s four courses is beautifully rendered in 3-D, and the graphics never seem to stutter or slow down. The in-game (virtual) camera work is excellent; whether following the ball into the sky as your shot arcs, or zooming in and out appropriately as you putt, it’s implemented as well as the best golfing sims.

I’m impressed by Let’s Golf. The game sports everything I look for in a golfing game, looks great, and plays well—it’s a winner.

Your life is made difficult by the fact that you must collet the parcels during your travels, while avoiding salt, aliens, and near-certain death. Sound like you’re kind of fun?

Snail Mail is a racing adventure game that features Turbo the Snail, who you must guide through an interplanetary obstacle course to make package deliveries. Through a combination of cell-shaded and 3D graphics, solid control responses, and terrific replay value, Snail Mail delivers big gaming fun.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

SNAIL MAIL

Episode 1: A New Recruit Episode 1: A New Recruit

There is turmoil within the Republic. The SLUG PIRATES have established trade barriers all along the Intergalactic Highway barring all package delivery. Fearful of the Slugs’ wrath, the Galaxy Postal Service has gone on strike. Meanwhile, on planet Earth a young snail named TURBO has come of age and is ready to join the ranks of SNAIL MAIL, the fastest delivery service in the known universe. Now TURBO will have to brave great dangers to collect, protect, and deliver the packages that we rely upon…

Snail Mail features three different modes of play — postal adventure, time trial, and challenge mode. The objective is to guide Turbo the Snail along a racecourse from start to finish, picking up as many packages as possible before reaching the end. Of course Turbo must face obstacles along the way, including spiky slug enemies and salt blobs and enemy fire that will injure Turbo. Playing in postal adventure mode will take you through increasingly difficult levels, while time trial and challenge mode lets you revisit levels you’ve already played and attempt to beat the high score.

Snail Mail exhibits all the qualities of a great adventure game, including weapon power ups that Turbo can use to defend himself against enemy objects and health pickups to prolong his life. What’s great about Snail Mail is that solid game play is coupled with a strong replay value. The option to change control settings from tilt to touch appeases a wider variety of users and actually comes in handy for the more challenging courses. You also have the option of checking out the built-in tutorial, which thoroughly explains game play, or jumping right in on your own.

From a technical standpoint, the game is stable, runs at a very smooth frame rate, and has only one load time when it is started up. The game itself is a blast to play with each course offering enough of a varied challenge to be worth playing over and over again. The tilt controls are the best I’ve seen in an iPhone game and really set this apart from other games which sometimes feel like a chore to control, especially on the subway. The game exudes great personality, and is quite easy to pick up and play on the go.

The colorful combination of cell shading and 3D graphics make Snail Mail visually appealing and the sound effects are pretty solid as well. This game gets a round of applause and my strongest recommendation especially at the price of $1.99!

Paper Toss is a fun and addicting game that brings the thrill of throwing crumbled paper into a garbage can to your iPhone & iPod Touch. The app is simple, yet refined to allow for hours of competition between you and the global scoreboard.

The app Opens with a nicely presented office cubicle Scene. Your high scores are listed for each difficulty level and there is also an option to turn sound on or off. Your difficulty Choices are easy, medium or hard. Easy will start you off tossing from a close distance to the garbage can, while hard will force you to throw from much further away. Each level shows a difference part of the office. These scenes are nicely done, with plenty of detail such as computer monitors, desks, chairs and water coolers.. The sound is great, with plenty of ambient noise such as copy machines and telephone rings.

The whole point of the game is simple. Flick a paper ball off of the desk and into the trash can. Once you’ve got the hang of that, try and see how many times in a row you can do that. You might be thinking right now, well that sounds easy. Flick it the same every time and your score could be endless, right? Actually you are wrong. The part of the game that makes this very interesting is the fan. At each attempt to make the paper ball in the trash you have a fan blowing from either left or right, and with that the fan has different strengths as you can see below. Since it’s only at 0.19 in the shot below you barely have to aim to the right, but if you come across the strength at 5 or above (it doesn’t go to six) then you almost have to flick the ball behind the fan.

It’s an activity that is fun for all and can now be Experienced whenever and wherever you are right from your iPhone or iPod Touch. This game is FREE, fun and fantastic. I strongly recommend downloading this app. Show the game to your friends and see how many times you or your friends can make it. Who will set the record.

According to Miller, the attack “exploits a weakness in the way iPhones handle text messages received via SMS (Short Message Service),” use these SMS to run malicious software code which “could include commands to monitor the location of the phone using GPS, turn on the phone’s microphone to eavesdrop on conversations, or make the phone join a distributed denial of service attack or a botnet.”

Miller says he’s passing the evidence onto Apple for it to mend up the problem before it becomes something more serious, hope this hole could be mended ASAP.

May be a firewall and antivirus software also needed on iPhone.

The most salient feature of these two new docks is their Wi-Fi streaming which means devices with this industry certification can talk to each other and allow easy data transfer wirelessly. The networked Sony unit includes a CD player (both audio CD and CD-R/RW discs with MP3 tracks accept), AM/FM radio plus USB inputs.

Both the CMT-Z100iR and NAS-Z200iR has two 20-watt independent speaker to provide high fidelity stereo sound, they can be wall mounted with a VESA wall bracket, which is a standard mount used also for TVs.

The differences bewteen these two docks are the CMT-Z100iR includes iPod / CD / USB playback, a large display that shows the time and selected function, and glossy black/white two colors in appearence can be choosed.

Unfortunately when they will appear in the U.S. is not mentioned.

The statistics were reported in AdMob’s May 2009 Mobile Metrics Report, if you want the full report please check here.

I was shock when I read it, it means more than half of the apps are inactive, and most people do not buy apps from App Store, what’s wrong about it? May be it’s time for Apple to think about it’s mode of commercial operation on apps, it’s high cost on iPhone SDK using and low pay back perhaps will force designers go away, and the lack of efficiency of App Store also caused users can not find what they really want. These two factors are negative to sales, and might drive people change their way to JailBreak.

This is an alarming.
