Toki Tori is the game that just won’t die. Surprisingly, we mean this is in a good way. If you haven’t played Toki Tori yet you should absolutely stop reading this and grab it for less than a buck right now. But if you already love Toki Tori? Read on!

Originally released for the GameBoy Color back in 2001, Toki Tori was a critical success but a commercial failure. Most developers would have taken their lumps and moved on to their next projects, but Two Tribes knew that they had a true gem on their hands and weren’t ready to let go.

After allowing for a 2003 port to Windows Mobile, the team at Two Tribes took a break from Toki Tori only to re-emerge last year with a gorgeous remake on Nintendo’s WiiWare service. But with the service itself not gaining any real traction, Two Tribes still hadn’t see the commercial success that their title deserved.

Then came Chillingo. The iPhone publisher has become one of the premiere names in iPhone gaming, and they saw the potential Toki Tori had to offer. Porting the WiiWare remake to the iPhone, Chillingo has released the penultimate version of the puzzle platformer. Now that version is on sale for 99 cents.

Toki Tori is this fat little bird who’s put to the task of collecting up his buddies trapped in eggs. Levels have been designed in a way to capitalize on his abilities, or lack of them: he can’t fly and he can only climb short steps and ladders. But the deeper you go, the more functions open up for this little guy: if the level calls for it, he can build bridges across one-tile-wide gaps, teleport across wider areas, shoot enemies with freeze guns or slurp them up in a vacuum, and move pillars behind him. Some levels allow for an infinite number of special moves while others limit the amount of times they can be used.

Having Toki Tori on a handheld console again is a great way to experience the series if you missed out in it the first time round. The touchscreen control mechanic might not sit so well with old school fans, but for newcomers with a patient disposition, Toki Tori is a real treat from the App store.

Let’s Golf, a $1.99 3-D iPhone game from Gameloft, mixes rich graphics with solid controls and a nice set of options. The result is a very fun, surprisingly deep mobile golf simulator.
When you first launch Let’s Golf and every time thereafter you’re greeted with a 30 second intro video. That’s a bit much; even though it’s skippable by tapping the Done button, you’d think developers building a mobile game would know better than to put up barriers to getting into the game quickly. But as fun as Let’s Golf’s good parts are, you’ll learn soon enough that there’s a disappointing amount of waiting while you play.

The game’s sole “loading” screen—with the Let’s Golf logo and a small animation—appears constantly, in between each hole. I assume there are memory issues at play here that make this necessary, but it’s one of the only real notable downsides in an otherwise entertaining game.

The imagery in the game is superb. The trees, grass, and blue sky aren’t photorealistic, but they come impressively close. Attention to detail is excellent: You’ll spot airplanes, hang-gliders, and parachutes soaring in the sky, and you’ll see leaves drifting down from the trees.

Let’s Golf offers two separate control mechanisms. The first is the familiar golfing video game interface you may have seen before, where you tap once for strength, and a second time for accuracy, aiming to time your taps with an animated gauge. The second mechanism embraces the iPhone’s multitouch screen a bit more, and it’s awfully tricky to describe in words. Basically, you slide your finger in a golf swing-like circle, and how far back you slide your finger determines the strength of your swing. Although the latter mode is called “advanced,” I find that it’s actually easier than the traditional controls, because it’s possible to abandon your shot halfway through if you mess up when setting your power level. Either way, each control scheme is fun, and I switch between the two methods at whim.

The game features a variety of play modes and difficulty levels. You can play a quick round of three random holes (from random courses), compete in a tournament against computer-controlled opponents on 9 or 18 holes from one course, or just “free play” on the course of your choosing. Winning tournaments unlocks additional courses, outfits, and gear for the golfing characters. Those characters, by the way, are pretty funny. They each have unique traits—some are more accurate, some can swing more powerfully. And when they bogey, or heaven-forbid, double-bogey, their emotional disgust-laden body language is a hoot.

Multiplayer options in Let’s Golf are strong: You can take turns by passing your iPhone or iPod touch to a friend, or you can connect via Wi-Fi.

Each of Let’s Golf’s four courses is beautifully rendered in 3-D, and the graphics never seem to stutter or slow down. The in-game (virtual) camera work is excellent; whether following the ball into the sky as your shot arcs, or zooming in and out appropriately as you putt, it’s implemented as well as the best golfing sims.

I’m impressed by Let’s Golf. The game sports everything I look for in a golfing game, looks great, and plays well—it’s a winner.

You’re a snail with the tedious task of delivering mail through the universe. Your life is made difficult by the fact that you must collet the parcels during your travels, while avoiding salt, aliens, and near-certain death. Sound like you’re kind of fun?

Snail Mail is a racing adventure game that features Turbo the Snail, who you must guide through an interplanetary obstacle course to make package deliveries. Through a combination of cell-shaded and 3D graphics, solid control responses, and terrific replay value, Snail Mail delivers big gaming fun.

A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…

SNAIL MAIL

Episode 1: A New Recruit Episode 1: A New Recruit

There is turmoil within the Republic. The SLUG PIRATES have established trade barriers all along the Intergalactic Highway barring all package delivery. Fearful of the Slugs’ wrath, the Galaxy Postal Service has gone on strike. Meanwhile, on planet Earth a young snail named TURBO has come of age and is ready to join the ranks of SNAIL MAIL, the fastest delivery service in the known universe. Now TURBO will have to brave great dangers to collect, protect, and deliver the packages that we rely upon…

Snail Mail features three different modes of play — postal adventure, time trial, and challenge mode. The objective is to guide Turbo the Snail along a racecourse from start to finish, picking up as many packages as possible before reaching the end. Of course Turbo must face obstacles along the way, including spiky slug enemies and salt blobs and enemy fire that will injure Turbo. Playing in postal adventure mode will take you through increasingly difficult levels, while time trial and challenge mode lets you revisit levels you’ve already played and attempt to beat the high score.

Snail Mail exhibits all the qualities of a great adventure game, including weapon power ups that Turbo can use to defend himself against enemy objects and health pickups to prolong his life. What’s great about Snail Mail is that solid game play is coupled with a strong replay value. The option to change control settings from tilt to touch appeases a wider variety of users and actually comes in handy for the more challenging courses. You also have the option of checking out the built-in tutorial, which thoroughly explains game play, or jumping right in on your own.

From a technical standpoint, the game is stable, runs at a very smooth frame rate, and has only one load time when it is started up. The game itself is a blast to play with each course offering enough of a varied challenge to be worth playing over and over again. The tilt controls are the best I’ve seen in an iPhone game and really set this apart from other games which sometimes feel like a chore to control, especially on the subway. The game exudes great personality, and is quite easy to pick up and play on the go.

The colorful combination of cell shading and 3D graphics make Snail Mail visually appealing and the sound effects are pretty solid as well. This game gets a round of applause and my strongest recommendation especially at the price of $1.99!

Paper Toss is a fun and addicting game that brings the thrill of throwing crumbled paper into a garbage can to your iPhone & iPod Touch. The app is simple, yet refined to allow for hours of competition between you and the global scoreboard.

The app Opens with a nicely presented office cubicle Scene. Your high scores are listed for each difficulty level and there is also an option to turn sound on or off. Your difficulty Choices are easy, medium or hard. Easy will start you off tossing from a close distance to the garbage can, while hard will force you to throw from much further away. Each level shows a difference part of the office. These scenes are nicely done, with plenty of detail such as computer monitors, desks, chairs and water coolers.. The sound is great, with plenty of ambient noise such as copy machines and telephone rings.

The whole point of the game is simple. Flick a paper ball off of the desk and into the trash can. Once you’ve got the hang of that, try and see how many times in a row you can do that. You might be thinking right now, well that sounds easy. Flick it the same every time and your score could be endless, right? Actually you are wrong. The part of the game that makes this very interesting is the fan. At each attempt to make the paper ball in the trash you have a fan blowing from either left or right, and with that the fan has different strengths as you can see below. Since it’s only at 0.19 in the shot below you barely have to aim to the right, but if you come across the strength at 5 or above (it doesn’t go to six) then you almost have to flick the ball behind the fan.

It’s an activity that is fun for all and can now be Experienced whenever and wherever you are right from your iPhone or iPod Touch. This game is FREE, fun and fantastic. I strongly recommend downloading this app. Show the game to your friends and see how many times you or your friends can make it. Who will set the record.

Every female has a cycle trouble days each month since puberty has began. Because of the period is so unpredictable and easily affected by moods, food, weather or other unexpected factors, it does not always happen in the right time which make a huge mess. Now if you are a female also has that trouble with your period, and just right have iPhone/iTouch in your hand, then I strongly suggest you to download this app named iPeriod (IP). My reasons are as below:

iPeriod provide many cute icons to record your periods on a visual canlendar which make you easy to check;

The records contain cramps, love connections, notes, spotting, period days and flow, fertile days, ovulation etc.;

According to your records it will give you future 12 periods, or you can set the luteal phase by yourself;

Alerts you when your period is expected or late

You can set a password to keep it secret;

Allowed emailing your period data for backups

I have used it for half of year and it provides me very accurate predictions each month, it’s a very useful app for every female, thanks for the designer!

But be attention, please do not use it for preventing pregnancy, it’s not hundred percent safe.

I enjoy the gameplay in X2 Football more than in Real Soccer because the controls are so much more intuitive and responsive. A directional marker appears for whichever player you’re controlling, and the instant replays allow you to watch from different angles and speeds. At anytime, you can access the options or pause by tapping the mini map in the upper right corner. For me, the game seems to flow better in X2 Football, but I will say that Real Soccer has more depth in terms of teams, the use of real player names, and the ability to choose different stadiums. But at the same time with Real Soccer, some of the players tend to run around like headless chickens, while in X2 Football, they seem to behave more as a real team.

I have seen many iPhone applications in recent weeks and months, but the Air Mouse application for iPhone/touch is one that is actually worth its price in gold(only $5.99). Here is why. If you want to buy an air mouse right now on Amazon, you are going to have to pay in range of $50-150 to get your hands on one of them. But the Air Mouse application for the iPhone actually transforms your iPhone into a remote mouse and keyboard.

Air Mouse works over a local Wi-Fi network to control you computer’s mouse and keyboard. Before using the app, you do need to install a small application on your computer. There’s a version for both Mac OS X and Windows users which manages the connection and controls many of the mouse and keyboard settings.
If you are prompted by your firewall or any antivirus software to block this program, please make sure you select to allow the connection.

Features:

Accelerometer based air mouse

Trackpad (full screen vertical and landscape modes)

Media keys & Web keys

Application notifications – Remote keyboard with function and arrow keys

Programable hotkeys (can be set to run a program or keyboard combination)

Scroll pad

Multitouch gestures (scroll & right click)

Modifier Keys

On screen typing

Password protection

Custom sensitivity settings

Foreign language keyboards

Supports Bonjour or static IP

No screen size limitation. Works with multiple monitors.

The first option for controlling the Air Mouse is to use the accelerometer. The buttons are as follows:

Settings: Click to access the preferences

Swap View: Click to switch to the touch pad control

Trigger: Holding this button activates the mouse movements. Keep it held down as long as you want to move the mouse. You can pull your thumb off it, move the mouse back, then press it again to gain more movement space. You can also tap the trigger quickly to activate a mouse click.

Scroll Pad: Run your thumb up and down over this part to activate scrolling.

Left Mouse Button: This will activate a left mouse button click. Additionally, if you hold this button down, it will also activate the trigger. This is useful if you want to click and drag something or highlight some text.

Right Mouse Button. This will activate a right mouse button click. Additionally, if you hold this button down, it will also activate the trigger.

The second option for controlling your mouse movement is to use this touch pad. This works the same as the touch pad on your laptop. It can be used in vertical mode with the keyboard showing or hidden, or in landscape mode by rotating your iPhone. The buttons are as follows:

Settings: Click to access the preferences

Swap View: Click to switch to the accelerometer based control

Touch Pad: Move your thumb anywhere over this surface to control your mouse movement. As long as your movement originates in this space, you can utilize the entire space, even where there are other buttons. Tapping quickly on the pad will activate a mouse click.

Scroll Pad: Run your thumb up and down over this part to activate scrolling.

Left Mouse Button: This will activate a left mouse button click. Additionally, if you hold this button down and move your finger onto the touch pad, you can move the mouse with the mouse down.

Right Mouse Button. This will activate a right mouse button click.

The trackpad also responds to some multitouch gestures just like your MacBook. To scroll, just use two fingers on the trackpad to scroll in any direction. To perform a right click, single tap with two fingers on the touch pad.

Keyboard

The keyboard can be used to type on your computer. As you type on your iPhone, the letters will be typed in real time on your computer as well as on the screen of the Air Mouse. You can type a Tab key by double tapping the Return key. Directly above the keyboard are 3 modifier keys. These are the same that you would find on your desktop keyboard. Ctrl, Win, Alt on the PC and Ctrl, Option, Command on the Mac. The modifier keys will change to the appropriate keys when you connect to your computer. These can be used to perform keyboard shortcuts, such as creating a new document by hitting Command-N. These keys also work for mouse click, so if you wanted to open a new tab in a web browser you could press the necessary modifier key and click on a link. Modifier clicks don’t work in every program though, so your results may vary. To the right of the 3 modifier keys is a minimize button. This will hide the main keys and show the function, media and web keys. If you want to hide the keyboard completely in order to have the entire screen as a trackpad, just shake the phone in a downward motion and it will slide away. To bring it back, just shake your phone in an upward direction.

Function Keys

Media Keys

Web Keys

Motion Guide

To move the mouse up and down on the screen, simply tilt the iPhone up and down in the air.

To move the mouse left to right, the first method is to use a long arcing motion.

To make quicker movements from left to right, hold your hand still and twist your wrist.

Air Mouse Web Reviews

cnet first look video:
“Infinitely cooler and more practical than the still-respected iTunes Remote is Air Mouse for iPhone 1.5.”

cnet.com:
“Version 1.5 completely blows away every competitor we’ve seen by adding an incredible array of new features without bumping up the price.”

Macyourself:
“I was simply blown away by the functionality packed into this seemingly tiny app. What exactly does it do? Surprisingly, a heck of a lot.”

TapCritic:
“This is a ridiculously well-designed and thought-out app. ”

App Craver:
“I haven’t been as enthused about an app as I am with Air Mouse Pro, from R.P.A. Tech, in a long time. ”

Macworld:
“I found the solution to my troubles in RPA Technology’s $6 Air Mouse Pro app.”

PC World:
“Still, Mobile Air Mouse is a genuinely fun and practical application for anyone who needs to break free of the desk.”

209.20.84.60:
“Prior to Air Mouse I had not purchased a single application from the iTunes store. I had always wondered what my first purchase would be, or when it would be. As soon as I saw a screen shot of Air Mouse there was no doubt in my mind that I was going to get it.”

macnewsworld.com:
“If you ever hook your computer up to the living room big screen to watch video or surf the Web, Air Mouse is worth the price. Setup is a breeze, and you get variety of control and customization options.”

Pocket Picks:
“There aren’t many applications that achieve a balance between practicality and the hallowed wow factor so often ascribed to the iPhone’s various features.”

arstechnica.com:
“That’s when I began to notice a slew of applications arriving on the App Store promising to turn the iPhone and iPod touch into a wireless mouse of sorts. There were quite a few to chose from, but eventually I chose to take a look at RPA Technology’s Air Mouse. I’m glad I did. ”

www.joetech.com:
“This is probably the best money I’ve spent in the iPhone Apps store.”

www.appvee.com:
“This app is definitely handy and a lot of fun to use. If you have any need for a computer remote on your iPhone, Air Mouse is the best choice.”

whatsoniphone.com #1:
“So many people had expressed interest in Air Mouse that I just had to check it out. What do I think? WOW!!! Air Mouse actually works. No, let me correct that. WOW!! Air Mouse works incredibly well…”

whatsoniphone.com #2
“It immediately struck me that this could be exceptionally useful in many different situations but especially if you use a slate tabletpc or UMPC, neither of which comes with a mouse or trackpad. I recommended it to a number of people who use UMPC’s and they all seemed rather taken with it…”

iphoneuserguide.com
“So many of our readers have commented on how cool an App like this would be, and we are proud to say this is a surefire winner…”

Terry White’s Tech Blog:
“It’s not that often that I find an iPhone app that does EVERYTHING I’d want it to and works exactly the way I’d want it to. However, Air Mouse Pro is just such an app!”

jkontherun.com:
“Here’s the nifty part: since there’s an accelerometer in the iPhone and Touch, you can use the app like a gyroscopic pointer as well. To do that, I just held the top, center button of Air Mouse and tilted my iPhone left, right, up and down to move my cursor around. Slick!”

A glance at dazzling App Store, Starmap is one of my favorite app. Its official website introduced as below:

STARMAP is a pocket planetarium, using the breath taking technologies of the iPhone. It brings the present and future sky map at the tip of your fingers, at any time, anywhere.
Get connected to seasons and astronomical events. Learn the star names, the position of the planets and foresee the next meteors shower with STARMAP. This version has been designed for users who wish to discover the night sky, without special astronomy skills.

I am an amateur of sky night and have a lot of interests in astronomy, so I think Starmap is a very useful, convenient tool in my observation. Last month I have a vacation with my friends in Saipan Island, when we were on the way fly to there at night, I found there were some familiar stars just hanged outside the plane window. So I took out my iTouch entered time, the latitude and longitude coordinates(which broadcasted on screen of the plane) in Starmap ASAP, it quickly confirmed they were Regulus and Leo.

（Starmap Screenshots)

( Starmap Pro Screenshots)

If you are a enthusiast and have telescopes, you can choose another app called Starmap PRO Edition which is a more professional version. It provides “More than 2 500 000 stars, NGC/IC catalogues, 25000 objects with detailed information”, and can be connected through Wifi to control telescope, perhaps my next goal is to buy a telescope to match this fantastic app…

But I think Starmap is totally enough for ordinary user, now it has updated to version 1.3.

SOME FIVE STARS REVIEWS ON THE APP STORE

This is the most money I’v spent on an iphone app,and this one hasn’t dissapointed. I’v owned it for about a month now,and I love using it with my meade LX200GPS. It’s also a great ambassador application to show people the power of the iphone.

“This is the most money I’v spent on an iphone app,and this one hasn’t dissapointed. I’v owned it for about a month now,and I love using it with my meade LX200GPS. It’s also a great ambassador application to show people the power of the iphone.”

“I love it. I have been waiting for a planetrium program that is as in depth as this one to come out.personally,I have been an amature astronomer for almost 30 years. the pro version has everything that you would need for serious abserving. It works well on my iTouch. The owner is quick to answer replies which is one of the marks of a good product. just take a look at the 15min. movie on his web site if you are unsure.”

“finally, a fully featured, intuitive, and highly detailed astronomy tool for serious sky watchers and casual ovservers alike who want to know and see more. A pro level app with a big data base that’s worth every penny. And it runs on a phone! One of those rare apps that is well thought out, well organized and well executed. The first night you use it,you’ll be amazed. Don’t go into dark without it.”

“I am an astronomy grad student and I do a lot of abserving and am sure this app will come in handy. Great to use as a teaching aid while giving students demos with our roof-top telescope but also useful for planning observing runs and getting that invaluable quick-look at the sky without leaving the demo”

“I whileheartedly recommend starmap Pro to serious amateurs and professionals.
